These days what most people think of as ‘yoga’ is hatha yoga using specific stretches and postures as means of meditation. When done with proper awareness, such yoga can be a very beneficial spiritual practice. In hatha yoga, as you move and hold positions, you try to remain aware of every single movement.
The current stop, question and frisk policy is not effective. Statistics released this month by the NYPD show that 684,330 stops were performed in 2011, which represents a 603% increase since 2002, the year that data collection began on this program. This makes for over 4.3 million times that a New Yorker has been stopped, questioned and frisked during the Bloomberg administration..
The proper time to have released this potentially damaging interview was when Gingrich first decided to run for president. However, it is not too late to so do now. Gingrich will not get the Republican nomination even if he should win South Carolina or Georgia.
Martian Manhunter and Miss MartianI don like Rand books. I not an Objectivist, but I do like the handful of her essays that I read (On the Nature of Government, Man Rights, and What is Capitalism all come to mind). They all clear and concise. My favorite stripes for spring. I love the very chic, and timeless nautical striped tops, and this season my favorite chic classic striped knit tops are being worn not only with casual attire, but they are also being all dressed up for business, and evening. The stripe carries no more connotations of only being a preppie look.
There is no question that there will be another storm. They just don care. They feel so blessed to have been born and bred in an area that feels the finger of God on a regular basis, both in the beauty of the area and its devastating side effects. Today marks the end of the Raw Fisher blog, and at noon, the last regular edition of the Potomac Confidential chat will be live here on the big web site we’ll mix it up on the issues of the day and on your views about the column, the blog, The Post and the future of the news media. In my farewell column on Sunday, I wrote about the strengths and structural problems both the new media and the traditional print media have faced as I’ve experienced the great transition during my decade of writing the column:There was something empowering about the new media, the digital technology that let readers speak out in the same format, the same time frame and the same space as the news that had hitherto been delivered from on high.I loved the new battleground of ideas even as I lamented how opinion the laziest form of journalism was elbowing out the rigorous work of reporting. In this new world, it was so cheap to mouth off that the difficult and sometimes less exciting work of ferreting out facts became too easy to discard or trim back.
